P. 2

FOREWORD

The American Land Title Association (ALTA) has adopted standardized forms of
endorsements. The ALTA endorsements are copyrighted and restricted for use by
ALTA members and licensees. This guide is designed to be a catalog and overview

of ALTA endorsement forms and contains the text of each endorsement, as approved
and adopted by ALTA. Depending on state regulations, the ALTA endorsements
discussed in this guide may or may not be available in a particular state.

Endorsements are attached to the standard ALTA Owner’s or Loan Policy and are
designed to insure risks not covered in the standard policies. Endorsements may
provide coverage for matters not addressed in the standard title insurance policies
or they may insure over or modify the pre-printed policy exclusions or exceptions in
Schedule B. Endorsements may also be issued to correct, modify, or delete items

                 from an issued policy.

There is no one-size-fits all approach to endorsements. Some endorsements
specifically apply to owner’s policies, others are strictly suitable for loan policies,

and some apply to both. Similarly, certain endorsements are specifically designed
to apply to both residential and commercial property transactions.

Old Republic Title’s ability to approve and issue endorsements depends on a review of
applicable local ordinances, state laws, and government regulations. As a result, the

availability of the forms in this guide may vary by state—and in some cases, by city.
Underwriting procedures and guidelines are generally based on the specific details
of each transaction, and some may require additional analysis due to unique risks or

circumstances. This guide is not intended to outline underwriting requirements. For
detailed guidance, please consult your underwriter on a case-by-case basis.

Endorsements are part of the title insurance policy and are subject to all terms,
provisions, and any prior endorsements. Old Republic Title appreciates your

interest and looks forward to helping meet your real estate needs. For questions
about this guide or any of our products and services, please contact your local
