San Luis Obispo county is located on the Pacific Coast,
approximately halfway between the metropolitan areas
of Los Angeles and San Francisco. Due to the distance
from major metropolitan areas, Also known for its
comfortable climate, lively downtown, historic Spanish
missions and local shops, San Luis Obispo was named
the happiest city in America.
SLO county has been able to retain its small-town
and rural character. Despite this, the area also offers
many of the same amenities that are found in more
populated areas.
Being the third largest producer of wine in the State
of California, wine grapes are the second largest
agricultural crop in the county. The wine production
that those crops support creates a direct economic
impact on the growing wine country vacation industry.
San Luis Obispo County is also home to major
educational institutions which draw students from all
over the world and provide a wide array of educational
and cultural opportunities.
